Steamed Asparagus

Asparagus is known by various terms like garden asparagus or sparrow grass.It is nothing but a perennial flowering plant species in the genus Asparagus.Its young shoots are used as spring vegetable. These are the same types of shoots that we are going to use in our recipe.

  • 1 bunch asparagus spears
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups water


  • Place water in the bottom half of a steamer pan set. Add salt and butter, and bring it to a boil.
  • Trim the dry end off of the Asparagus. Place them in the top half of the steamer pan set.
  • Steam for 5 to 10 minutes depending on the thickness. Steam until it becomes tender.
