What are Pickled Sausages Made Of?

The main ingredient in pickled sausages is vinegar. You can add more seasonings like red chilies, black pepper, and garlic cloves. If you want to experiment with the different layers of flavors, you can add jalapeno, peppercorn, fresh herbs or cumin.

How long do Pickled Sausages last?

Pickled sausages usually last for 2-3 days. Make sure that you are using a sterile jar. Also, place the sausages in the refrigerator. You can seal it so that it is airtight. Otherwise, they can be a good home for bacteria.

Let us now see how to prepare this delicious recipe!

Ingredients Required:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 cups of vinegar
  • 3 Tablespoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon. Coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red peppercorns
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Let’s look at the steps involved in making this awesome dish:

STEP 1-: Clean the sausages and rinse them under running water and let them drain for a few minutes. 

STEP 2-: Take a medium saucepan and place it over heat. Add two cups of water into it and then add sugar and salt into the water.

STEP 3-: Now, I am the whole garlic, peppercorns, coriander seed and the bay leaf into the water. Cook it for a few minutes until the herbs and spices release their flavor.

STEP 4-: Add the sausages to the saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes. You will notice that the sausages take a uniform cylindrical appearance.

STEP 5-: Now, add the vinegar to the saucepan and cover it with a lid. Cook it for 10 minutes.

STEP 6-: After 10 minutes of cooking, turn off the flame and let the sausages cool completely.

STEP 7-: Meanwhile take a glass jar with a tight lid and wash it well.

STEP 8-: When the sausages have cooled down, add them in the the dried glass jar. Make sure to pour enough liquid in the jar so as to cover the sausages in them.

STEP 9-: Let the sausages rest at room temperature for at least an hour before refrigerating them.

STEP 10-: Rest time for at least 24 hours before eating them so that the flavors are well incorporated within each other.
